This event is part of the “Contemporary Israel and Its Challenges: A Series of Conversations” series.

In an era full of anecdotal evidence — which is, by nature, partial and often misleading — the need to bring evidence-based perspectives to democracy’s front lines has become paramount. This is particularly true in the midst of extensive social-economic-political unrest and the worst health crisis in a century. Join Professor Dan Ben-David, Shoresh Institution president and one of Israel’s leading economists recognized for “turning [Israel’s ] economic discourse into a professional one based on research and data” (Haaretz – TheMarker, December 2019), as he explains the phenomena contributing to the country’s future economic unsustainability.

Speaker

Professor Dan Ben-David (Ph.D. in Economics, University of Chicago) founded and heads the Shoresh Institution for Socioeconomic Research and is a senior faculty member at Tel-Aviv University. Professor Ben-David was named “Person of the Year” by the Calcalist newspaper and was included three times (most recently in 2019) in Haaretz-TheMarker newspaper’s list of the 100 most influential people in Israel.
