Tony Michels is the George L. Mosse Professor of American Jewish History, and the Director of the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is the author of A Fire in Their Hearts: Yiddish Socialists in New York (Harvard University Press, 2005), which was awarded the Salo Baron Prize for First Best Book in Jewish History, and the editor of Jewish Radicals: A Documentary History (New York University Press, 2012), and co-editor of The Cambridge History of Judaism, volume 8: The Modern World.
